Vitiligo is a chronic, primitive, acquired pigment alteration clinically characterized by the occurrence of achromic patches of different dimensions and forms with well defined borders, sometimes sorrounded by a cutaneous hyperchromic zone.Vitiligo affects 0.5-4% of the World population, with no difference in prevalence between sex and ethnic origins. The disease generally begins between the ages of 2 and 40: in a Dutch study, 50% of patients reported the occurrence before the age of 20. However, vitiligo can occur at all ages. Many pathogenetic hypotheses had been developed to explain the reason why vitiligo occurs (1).
