The formation of a solid phase due asphaltenes precipitation is a phenomenon of great interest to petroleum industry because asphaltenic deposits can result in partial or total blockade of reservoirs and pipelines and damage to the equipments during the processing operations. Asphaltenes are defined as the solid fraction separated from crude oil or others petroleum fluids by addition of an excess of n-heptane and consist in a class of molecules of various solubility parameter. In general, the petroleum processed in a refinery is a mixture of crude oils of different characteristics and can result in blends of oils that are incompatible due asphaltenes precipitation.
