Tow ship noise is a major contributor to towed array measurement uncertainties that can lead to large estimation errors in any form of signal processing problem aimed at extracting the weak target information. In this paper, a tow-ship noise cancelling algorithm based on noise directivity is introduced, which realized by using delayed transplacement subtraction (DTS) technique. The DTS means the hydrophone received signal subtracts from the close delayed hydrophone's which delayed in terms of an assumed source angle that take into account the noise directivity at every frequency in processing band, and the difference signal between transplacement hydrophones is achieved consequently which can be used in the following signal processing. A broad and fast beamforming algorithm integrated the noise cancelling technique is developed in detail. The proposed algorithm is simple, and can be calculating in real time. Sea trial results show that the proposed algorithm works well.
