The optimal damping coefficients of hydro-pneumatic spring matching with vehicle suspension were studied, and according to the ride-to-safety ratio of armored car vehicle and the lever ratio of its suspension system, a model of its velocity, characteristic was established. By the relations of velocity with flux, throttle pressure and damping force, the design models of throttle-valve parameters of hydropneumatic spring were founded. A practical design example of throttle valve parameters of hydropneumatic spring for armored car was followed, by an optimal design method of curve fitting, its throttle valve parameters were deigned, and its performance tests were carried out The testing results show that the velocity characteristic model established of hydro-pneumatic spring matching the optimal damping of armored car's suspension is feasible, the model and the design methods of valve parameters is reliable.
