DESIGN OF AN ARTIFICIAL SURF REEF AT S. MARINELLA, ROME(ITALY)

摘要

This paper describes the initial design studies and criteria for a novel artificial surfing reef to be built at a bay along the Tyrrhenian Sea coast near Rome. The design is carried out keeping in mind that the aim of the reef is twofold: it should generate surfable breaking waves and at the same time should protect the eroding coast and enhance its recreational use. Preliminary hydrodynamic studies are carried out in order to optimize the performance of the reef in terms of surfing waves.
