摘要

If a radiological event occurred near an open source of a water supply, then the water would probably pass through an established treatment works prior to being supplied to the consumer. Consequently, any such incident could lead to exposure to radiation for both consumers and the operatives that work in the affected water treatment works. It is important therefore that the drinking water industry has information and guidance to assess the radiological impact on both consumers and operatives. Two complementary Handbooks have been produced that provide guidance to the water industry and those decision-makers that would be responsible for managing the response to a radiological incident.
