The paper shows the results of a study aimed to understand whether some of the most commonly adopted models for estimating both flow evaporative and infiltration flows are applicable or not to a pyroclastic silty sand. To this end, the parameters of the adopted models were appropriately calibrated on the basis of experimental observations performed on a physical model, instrumented and exposed to the atmosphere for a period of four years.
