A baffled air-cathode microbial fuel cell (BAFMFC) was designed and operated under continuous flow.Electricity was generated with simultaneous biological wastewater treatment.With glucose fed as substrate,an average voltage of 652 mV was obtained under the external resistance of 1000Ω (30°C). The maximum power density of 15.2 W/m~3 was achieved with COD removal rate of 88%. The diluted practical wastewater was treated by BAFMFC (COD=7160±50 mg/L),and the maximum power density was 10.7 W/m~3,and the COD removal rate was higher than 89 %.BAFMFC was a promising configuration of MFCs that could be directly used in high-concentration wastewater treatment.
