摘要

In this paper, we have proposed a modified versionof image compression/decompression algorithm using blockoptimization and byte compression method (BOBC). AfterBOBC, it is followed by run-length encoding and its block isoptimised by varying block size. The proposed algorithm isvery simple in implementation, fast in encoding time.Experimental results show that compression ratio of thisalgorithm is better than the previous BOBC algorithm andJPEG compression techniques. Image quality (PSNR) is almostthe same or better as compared to that of the above mentionedcompression techniques.
