Combined cold extrusion of the materials steel and aluminum offers the opportunity to combine the advantages of cold forged components with a smart material mix. The cold extrusion tests reveal the dependency of the bond formation and premature failure on the aluminum's heat treatment prior to cold forging. Another factor of influence, the surface enlargement, which is necessary for a sound bond, can be determined by a finite element analysis. Furthermore, the overall surface enlargement is affected by macroscopic surface structuring.
