We present a summary of the lectures delivered to the Institute forMathematical Sciences, Singapore, during the 2005 Summer Schoolin Mathematical Logic. The lectures covered topics on the globalstructure of the Turing degrees the countability of its automor-phism group, and the definability of the Turing jump within _V.
