The true cost of filtration involves much more than purchasing the filter itself. This paper deals with various factors involved with filtration costs to include, not only the initial purchase price, but also how long a cartridge can remain on-line before replacement is required, the time required to change filters, fluid loss associated with change out, and disposal cost of the used filter. This analysis will show the cost savings associated with converting from standard 2.5 inch diameter cartridges to large high capacity cartridges and finally to washable high capacity filters. The effects of hazardous versus non-hazardous filtration will also be addressed.
