Precise modeling of power electronic-driven electromechanical actuators presents a challenge in many system level design and control practices. Field reconstruction method (FRM) as an alternative to Finite Element Analysis (FEA), can generate accurate local magnetic distributions in a small fraction of the time. Essentially, the FRM method is based on a generalized Fourier representation of the tangential and normal components of the magnetic field in various parts of an actuator. The novel formulation of this technique allows for integration of signal processing concepts such as superposition and convolution theorem in analysis of electromagnetic fields and other similar partial differential equation problems. The latter presents a new method of modeling for complex systems comprised of FEA and ordinary differential equations. Due to its high speed of computation, FRM can be used in real time monitoring of the state-of-health and fault resilient control of electromechanical actuator. This paper demonstrates an alternative formulation for FRM that would make it a suitable tool for synthesis of voltage driven systems (i.e. voltage source inverters) hence allowing a seamless, timely efficient, and accurate system level modeling of electromechanical converters.
