Wiredrawing dry lubricants are composed of irregular to regular platelets or beads. The particles range from an average mean diameter of <0.05 mm to >5 mm for segregated powders and up to 10 mm for ground products. The variation in shape and size influence the soap powder's flowability in the soapbox and the product's ability to lubricate effectively. Recent studies using powder rheology demonstrate the importance of maintaining a tight, uniform particle size distribution to improve the lubricant's performance.
