Recently, there has been renewed attention on alkylphenols, such as nonylphenol. High molecular weight alkylphenol-free phosphites have been designed to replace traditional phosphite stabilizers such as trisnonylphenyl phosphite (TNPP) and tris(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl) phosphite. These new phosphites offer advantages such as low migration, improved compatibility and plate-out, and significantly better color retention. This paper will examine further benefits and strategies to allow improved melt index control, heat aging stability, gamma irradiation and other properties.
