Adaptation to scientific and technical progress under Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHs Directive)

Review of the Directive includes aspects like additional substances, inclusion of category 8 & 9, enforcement and mechanisms for exemptions. Adaptation of the Annex lifting exemptions to scientific and technical progress done separately from RoHS review (i.e. separate publication in OJ). Commission proposal on review to be finalised in 2008 (currently under inter-service consultation); entry into force probably mid 2009. Adaptation of Annex to enter into force probably end 2009 (Commission proposal probably by end 2008/beginning 2009).
