Laboratory tests were carried out on two selected carbonate soils (a siliceous carbonate sand and"marl") from Doha, Qatar. The experiments included CBR tests, undrained triaxial tests, and repeated load tests on compacted samples. The test results have shown appreciable difference in behavior between the two tested soils. Test data has permitted the use of a linear log-log relationship to represent the increase of axial plastic strain with repeated load cycles. A critical stress- about 40% of the undrained shear strength - separates samples' plastic and resilient deformation behavior. For both soils tested, the resilient modulus decreased with increased stress and approached a constant value after 103 cycles, at stresses lower than the critical stress. This work aims at providing typical engineering properties of remolded carbonate soils from the Arabian Gulf Region, in an attempt to understand their behavior and establish a data base, leading to their eventual classification.
