A system coupled with condition monitoring may be maintained when the system state crosses a maintenance threshold. However, this just-in-time maintenance strategy, quite often, may not be viable due to various delays in service such as waiting for parts and maintenance facility. Consequently, determining a maintenance threshold becomes a challenging problem. The problem is more complex when imperfect maintenance is considered. This paper provides an imperfect maintenance model and derives a so-called optimal lower bound of maintenance threshold to mitigate the impact of service delays. The objective is to maximize the availability of the overall system.
