This paper examines state-of-the-art of Quality of Service (QoS) control for wireless Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) by first defining prominent QoS metrics, such as throughput, delay, packet delivery rate and jitter, with relevant standardization development. Recent works by various researchers, gleans how this research relates in context to other published works. Design factors, such as node speed, grid size, etc., influencing QoS, will be examined based on realistic models, by conducting follow-on simulations with statistical analysis. Then, a QoS optimization problem will be solved using evolutionary computation techniques. Improvements for data link and network layer protocols optimizing QoS are expected.
