Some novel forms of society, Society 5.0 and/orConnected Industries, have been proposed in Japan. Work stylein such society, workers sometimes have to work withoutstopping machine because all machines are connected with IoTand worker has to maintain working condition. Therefore, somecases would not be able to apply “stop and isolation strategies”anymore. Worker’s safety under such society has to be protectedby electronic devices such as Communication Technology (ITC)not depending upon human attentiveness. However,ISO11161-"Safety in an Integrated Manufacturing System"-doesnot offer an effective method of ensuring safety in dangerouspoint-approach work. Recently safety management system,which is suitable to such novel societies, especially for workingsite of Integrated Manufacturing System (IMS), has proposed asSafety 2.0 from Japan. As a form of Safety 2.0, we established anovel safety management system, "Supporting ProtectiveSystem (SSS)". The SSS focuses on the residual risk afterimplementing the 3-step method of ISO 12100/JIS B 9700.Now the SSS is proposed to ISO as ISO/TR 22053. It is thesystem to control and prevent human error and intentionalunsafe behavior from the mechanical side (hardware side) usingappropriate Information and ICT combination. In the presentstudy, the effectiveness and usefulness of the SSS wereevaluated with a procedure of Behavior-Based Safety (BBS).BBS is a group of Behavior Analysis, which aims to predict,control and solve the problem of behavior. In addition, stresssymptom and workload of subjects (workers) during experimentwere measured with self-report questionnaire.
