In this paper, an embedded intelligent gateway based on ARM9 chip is designed, which is mainly used in the intelligent building system. The ARM9TDMI kernel used in the design, is the 32 bits microprocessor, which is very advanced and with the frontier science and technology, can embedded an Linux operating system inside the processor.The main function of the intelligent gateway is that can convert different serial communication protocol to Ethernet protocol, and transform the signal data on NHB bus into the TCP/IP data for the server computer. All of the signal data in the intelligent building system, which can be transformed by the intelligent gateway into the signal data distinguished by the server computer, can be transferred by the NHB bus to the server computer. And by the intelligent gateway the signal data, which is sent out by the server computer, can be transformed into the signal data on the NHB bus, which can be transferred and distinguished by the intelligent terminal.Above of all, an net web system will be founded by the intelligent gateway, which can connect the intelligent terminal to the server computer. It is the net web system that can realize the digitization, information and intelligentization of the intelligent building system. The intelligent gateway converting different serial communication protocol to Ethernet protocol comes true in the building automation, will has the favorable stability, the prodigious feasibility and the great market development prospects.
