Hydrotalcite intercalated compounds (HT) was synthesized by solvothermal method using aluminum and magnesium alkoxides as precursors. Most of the solvothermal products were mesoporous structures with well-defined morphologies. The solvothermal samples from this study exhibited the characteristics of lamellar structures resembling hydrotalcite compounds even without calcination. The crystal size grew with increasing temperature during solvothermal process. While calcination increased crystallinity of samples in previous efforts, it did not improve the crystallinity level in this study.
