A simulation model of air separation unit (ASU) is established using a steady state flowsheet simulator (Aspen Plus). A 50 000Nm3/h ASU is simulated using this model based on the amended binary interaction coefficient. In order to increase the extraction rate of oxygen, argon products, and reduce the energy consumption of ASU, the operating variables in distillation system of ASU are analyzed and optimized using the sensitivity analysis module in Aspen Plus. The optimization methods of ASU are come to the conclusion. After the optimization, the energy consumption of ASU is reduced by 3.92%, and the extraction rate of oxygen, argon products are increased obviously. The optimization methods can be used in the optimal operation of actual ASU.
