Operational Lessons Learned Supporting NASA's DesertResearch and Technology Studies (D-RATS)

The Exploration Planning and Operations Center (ExPOC) is a facility used by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to develop operations and test concepts for future missions of the space program. In 2007, the ExPOC was utilized to support the Desert Research and Technology Studies (D-RATS) by providing three control center positions: the Operations Director, the SCOUT Operator and the Medical Officer. This paper presents operational observations and lessons learned from the ExPOC participation in planning and executing D-RATS 2007.
