Parallel simulated annealing with VMware virtual machine technology is applied in the time-lapse seismic inversion in this paper. The seismic-derived estimates of reservoir properties estimates are often obtained from time-lapse impedance estimates, it is important to achieve reliable time-lapse impedance models through time-lapse data inversion. For solving time-lapse seismic reservoir monitoring more efficiently, simulated annealing is applied to the inversion technique of time-lapse seismic. The seismic data in the time-lapse seismic is extraordinary huge, so parallel simulated annealing with VMware virtual machine technology is studied; it can proceed from many points simultaneously and independently, and periodically reconcile solutions. Virtualization technology of VMWare is described and a virtualization framework using VMware for parallel time-lapse seismic inversion is considered and designed.
