Delivering Social Performance During Appraisal: The Case of Royal Dutch Shell’s Grosmont Venture in Northern Alberta, Canada

This paper summarises the approach adopted by Royal Dutch Shell’s Grosmont Venture towards social performance during its winter 2007 appraisal campaign in Northern Alberta, Canada. The paper first considers the background to the appraisal activities, as well as the local environmental and socio-political context. The paper then provides a summary of Royal Dutch Shell’s Global framework for social performance and its conceptual relevance to the Grosmont Venture.
