Dry sorbent injection (DSI) of alkaline sorbents is being used or being contemplated by coal-fired utilities as a means of achieving SO_2, SO_3, and/or HC1 air emissions targets for compliance with Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS), Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR), and/orBest Available Retrofit Technology (BART) standards. EPRI is completing a literature review on DSI and conducting a survey of plants either using or testing DSI systems. The purpose of the literature review and the survey is to document air pollution removal performance of DSI systems for a variety of plant configurations, identify best practices in installing and operating DSI systems, and report any observed balance-of-plant effects.
