This study was designed to examine the impact of the school principal’s instructional behavior on teachers’ instructional practices in secondary schools. The critical role for all principals is that of being an instructional leader. Leadership in instructional matters should emerge freely from both the principal and teachers. Thus it is the principal who should be responsible for developing a school climate that is conducive in providing the very best instructional practices. Therefore, research questions were formulated in order to look for the impact of different domains of the principal instructional leadership behaviors on teachers’ instructional practices. The research sample included 130 teachers from 29 secondary schools in The District of Pulau, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia who filled out the Instructional Leadership Behavior (ILB) for their school principals. Variables such as framing goals and communicating to staff were regressed and the results indicate that 44.8% from the change in variance on Teachers’ Instructional Materials and Tools is influenced by Principals Instructional Leadership Behaviours. Data was analysed using mean, standard deviation, multiple regressions and MANOVA.
