The Research of Smart Handoff Technology Based on Mobile IP

摘要

This paper proposes a MIP-based smart vertical handoff decision model. A benefit function is deployed in this model to make smart handoff decision by using the influence factors of the surrounding networks as its inputs to obtain the benefit of each network for the current service. We compute the network benefit by using the reference value of the influence factors of the surrounding available networks, then compare it with the benefit of the network where the mobile terminal exists, so as to make a better network, thus, we can make a vertical handoff decision quickly and accurately. In the process of MIP handoff, we use the foreign agent as a buffer to store the packets. According to the final analysis, it demonstrates that this technology not only can release the handoff delay, but also decrease the packets loss.
