The product cycle for electronic systems also for commercial vehicles is getting shorter and shorter. Additionally the number of functions increases in parallel to the need of high system availability, flexibility and open interfaces. The influences of the globalization also on the design process of commercial vehicles requests specifications to location independent project management of automotive networks. Only well planned task-sharing in the international business will match these contrary requirements. Especially the testing and validation process by means of a hardware-in-the-loop simulation during the model upgrading of a complete vehicle range, is a sophisticated challenge. This is shown by example with the new Iveco Stralis.
