The aim of this work is to investigate the influence of the phase composition and the thickness of the nitride zone over the wear resistance of nitrided ВН11 and ВН21. The results reveal the relationship between the depth of penetration of the counter-body, the phase composition, the thickness of the nitride zone and the relative wear resistance of the nitrided steels. It has been established that for both steels - ВН11 and ВН21 - the highest relative wear resistance is obtained after forming a two-phase γ'+ε nitride zone in the nitrided layer.
