Horizontal Single Belt Casting (HSBC) has great potential to replace current Conventional Continuous Casting (CCC) processes for sheet metal production, by directly casting 3~1 mm sheet for the automobile industry. Numerical simulations are a convenient way to summarize all the details of the transport phenomena occurring in the HSBC process, including both the falling melt film and the impingements between the melt film and pre-selected obstacles. In the present paper, physical experiments and their mathematical simulations were employed to investigate the transport phenomena involved, using an inclined feeding system, for liquid aluminum wrought alloy (AA6111). The physical experiments were carried out on the pilot-scale caster, and the two-phase mathematical model was established, using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method.
