摘要

The main goal of this paper is to show the possibility of designing and developing a four-cavitylow pressure die casting mould using SEDI-Enugu machines and to mass produce motor-cyclepiston using the mould. Since for economical production of aluminium and aluminium alloys diecastings it is important that the dies have a long working life, because replacement of dies isexpensive in both money and production time. Here are the approaches and activities that wefollowed to actualized the design and development: design of die mould (die blocks cavitydesign, ejecting system design, sprue-gate-runner system design), machining operation of the dieblocks (cutting, milling, turning, grinding and threading), heat treating of the die blocks, corebox design and sand core making, and mounting of die mould on LPDC machine for casting.
