Construction methods for arch bridges have been around for centuries but the advancement of modern technology and the need for lower costs has taken the construction of the arch to new heights. Today's competitive market requires contractors to be innovative in how they approach a project. The contractor needs to use all competitive advantages during the bid process. Contractors cannot and should not depend on the schemes depicted in the contract drawings as the most cost effective method to construct the project. They need to be creative, innovative and deploy innovative technology. The intent of this paper is to provide an overview of the development of the erection scheme of the 700' steel arch truss located in Wikieup, Arizona.
