Since the improvement of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSC) in 1991, it has been regarded as promising next-generation photovoltaic device over the conventional Si solar cells because of its unique characteristics such as transparency and various colors as well as low cost. It is composed of a dye-adsorbed wide-bandgap nanocrystalline oxide film on transparent conducting substrate, usually fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass, a redox electrolyte and a metallic counter-electrode, usually a Pt electrode. Conventionally, the oxide film is dipped in the dye solution overnight. In this report we used an improved spray pyrolysis method to perform electrostatic spraying of the dye onto the oxide film for reducing the dipping time down to 15 min.
