摘要

The issue is mainly directed against the research of testing and measuring the thickness and diameter of cable insulation layer. The paper starts with designing a cable insulation parameters measurement system based on digital image processing in which image denoising and edge detection are completed through software programming. Total variant denoising method is used in the process of image denoising. In order to detect edge well, Binary morphology operator is used. Finally the diameter and thickness of cable insulation layer can be calculated by using the edge feature extracted. The measurement system has many advantages such as more simple operation, higher degree of automation, higher precision, etc. From the measurement result, we can conclude that the measurement system designed has higher practical value.
