摘要

It is important to remove poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) from automobile shredder residue (ASR) in order to avoid the production of hazardous chlorinated compounds during heat processing for the recycling of waste plastics. A new procedure was proposed for the separation of PVC from ASR by selective surface modification with ozone and froth flotation in this study. Ozonation could selectively increase the hydrophilicity of PVC surface in the ASR. PVC was successfully separated from the ASR sample by the selective surface modification with ozone and froth flotation. Contaminants on ASR inhibited the hydrophilization of PVC, and washing by alkaline solution could improve the hydrophilization and the separation of PVC from ASR.
