Example of high-bit-rate network based on soliton WDM system

摘要

In this paper the authors present an example of optical transmission system based on soliton technology. Implementation of wavelength division multiplexing enables achievement of 40 Gbps in one channel. In described example a multipointmultipoint topology was applied and there the programmable WSXC optical cross connect was used. Model of such system was implemented in OptSim simulation software (ARTIS Software Corporation). Finally an error-free soliton transmission was obtained on haul from 1300 to 1800 km.
