This paper presents an approach for an independently operating Renewable Energy Sources (RES) based hybrid system. The system captures a wind park (of large scale wind turbines), a Photovoltaic (PV) plant and a Pump Hydro Storage (PHS), for the compensation of fluctuating RES. The aim is to analyze in how far and within which limitations a dynamic system based on RES can supply and satisfy the local electricity demand. The approach examines the limitations and emerging challenges for an artificial-model, where the base-load is replaced by a Pump Hydro Storage. The parameters for the simulation trial are taken for the current conditions of an area in north-western Turkey. The outcome gives an idea about challenging issues for independent hybrid systems and evaluates in how far such a system is reasonable for the considered site.
