Alternative Wind Turbine Gearbox and Drivetrain Mounting Methods

The wind turbine gearbox and drivetrain mounting arrangement has a strong influence on the loads experienced by the gearbox in operation. In development work for a 2.5MW drivetrain for Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), Romax Technology Ltd. (Romax) collaborated closely with Energie- und Schwingungstechnik Mitsch GmbH (ESM) to identify the most suitable mounting arrangement. This poster illustrates the incorporation of a combined hydraulic and elastomeric mount into a 2.5MW drivetrain design.
