Operational Lessons Learned from ECO 110 Alstom's Most Powerful Wind Turbine

Since March 2008 Alstom has been exhaustively testing its new ECO 1XX platform. Starting with the first prototype of 100m rotor and most recently operating the ECO 110 3MW, 110m rotor diameter, one of the largest rotors available today for onshore applications. The ECO 110 has been designed to capture great amounts of wind on a given site maximizing the energy yield while minimizing the visual impact. The main lessons learned during the operational experience of the 110m wind turbine are presented below and can be categorized in tree main groups: design for preoperation, design for operation and design for maintenance.
