An exhaustive analysis of the parameters that influence the mechanical alloying/milling processes was performed. Three groups of parameters were identified, depending on: (i) materials to be milled (chemical composition, particles characteristics, powder characteristics, blend characteristics etc), (ii) milling component (mill type, vials material, balls material, mill energy, etc) and (iii) process (powder mass, number and diameter of balls, powder/balls mass ratio, milling atmosphere, surfactants, speed of milling vials and supporting disk, temperature of the material, milling time and so on). The influence of the parameters on the mechanical milling/mechanical alloying processes and their products was analysed in connection to own and published experimental results.
