A general description of the hydrostatic bearings designed for POGAL has been presented with the rationale given for the choices made. Most of the details and analyses for this project have been omitted to present the main concepts and ideas that others may wish to apply (yielding a paper with 24 figures and no equations). Much of the analytical detail resides in Mathcad~(TM) programs that are easy to modify for different applications.
