BROAD ACCESS TO JURAL COMPILATIONS: DICEAWEB

In recent years years, the GTS Research Group of the University Jaume I of Castellon (Spain) has made a series of computer applications that have helped writing and reviewing jural compilations. All those applications have been now grouped under the Escriba project. One of the main purposes of the Escriba project is to provide public access to jural compilations in an easy way. Because of that, Internet has been used as a platform as it eases this goal. Diceaweb arises from the needs of getting broader diffusion on jural compilations and making them entirely accessible from the Internet. Diceaweb allows querying jural databases on a fast and easy way. It provides a very intuitive User Interface (UI) that helps on doing queries through its elements, sorted in a natural way. Among the main features coming from the renewed UI is the possibility to make complex and customizable queries on the data. This allows doing specific studies using generic databases. Moreover, Diceaweb allows comparing legislation using established relationships between laws. Any norm can be queried along with its related norms through a simple process. The application is available through any modern web browser. This eliminates the needs for someone who wants to do some research to install additional software on the system. Also, hosting and modifying this web application is very easy and the builtin internationalization system allows an easy translation of the user interface. On the server side, DiceaWeb works on any modern web server that allows executing Python applications. As the rest of the software of the Escriba project, DiceaWeb is released under Free Software licences. This allows its copy, modification and redistribution without any additional cost, making Diceaweb, along with the rest of applications on the Escriba project, an accurate choice on the academic field for doing research projects on legislation.
