摘要

In this paper, the solution of the second-order non-linear wave equation is obtained by means of homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and variational iteration method (VIM). This equation describes the propagation of a wave (disturbance), and it arises in a wide variety of physical problems. The results reveal that the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and variational iteration method (VIM) are very effective, convenient and quite accurate to systems of partial differential equations. It is predicted that the HPM and VIM can be found widely applicable in engineering.
