OLEFINS COMPRESSORS' RELIABILITY PERFORMANCE URVEY RESULTS

This paper summarizes 2001-2005 Olefins Compressors Reliability Survey Data and compares with 1995-1999 Survey results~(1). The Ethylene Producers' Committee (EPC), Rotating Machinery Subcommittee (RMSC) members developed the Olefin Compressors Performance Survey Questionnaire in 1999. Solomon Associates (SA) agreed to incorporate a compressor reliability survey questionnaire in the 1999 Olefins Benchmarking Study to gather more data on systems that historically cause a large portion of the unplanned olefin plant shutdowns. The survey was repeated in 2005 to examine the change in performance over the last ten-year period. The combination of EPCRMSC members' in-depth technical knowledge and SA's proficiency in analyzing survey data has helped enhance the overall quality of this survey. A copy of the survey questionnaire is attached for reference in the Attachment I.
