Monsoon breaks in Bangladesh during 1994–1996 have been studied in detail. Sixty nine monsoon breaks occurred during the above mentioned period. During the breaks, the meridional energy flux was found to decrease as compared to that of before and after the breaks. It was also found that during the breaks, the meridional flux was southward in the upper troposphere and northward in the lower troposphere. The longest break was found in the month of July which was 13 days long. The average duration of break period was found to be 2.6 days. Maximum number of breaks occurred in the month of August which is 19. Maximum number of breaks occurred in the second ten days for all months except for the month of August.
