A new approach to evaluate optical parameters of new semitransparent materials which can be used for heat-insulating coatings of combustion chamber (00) is discussed. Theoretical predictions and experimental estimations of the parameters are analyzed with particular attention to those of model samples based on granulated powder of the stabilized zirconium oxide (ZrO{sub}2 + 10% Y{sub}2O{sub}3). A setup is described designed to measure the reflection and transmission coefficients of the flat samples semitransparent materials. Possible applications of the semitransparent ceramic heat-insulating coatings in CC are outlined.
