Prospect and Development of Zinc and Zinc Alloy Coated Steel Sheets in China

摘要

This paper describes recent developments and progress in Chinese zinc and zinc alloy coated steel sheets with the Chinese rapid economy growth and market expansion and analyses the consumption structure of zinc and zinc alloy coated steel sheets. It highlights continued breakthroughs in galvanizing advanced high strength steels (AHSS) and ultra high strength steels (UHSS). New novel alloy coatings including Zn-Al-Mg coatings, advanced function coatings and environmentally friendly surface treatments are being implemented in response to sustainable development. Challenges in the future include several factors such as overcapacity, further quality improvement, development of higher strength grades and so on. The direction of the developments of Chinese zinc and zinc alloy coated steel sheets is toward those sheets with high-strength, environmental friendly, and longer-life that can enhance contributions to sustainable development.
