Since several years, new products appeared on the market replacing classic phosphate – basedconversion coatings. This presentation will focus on the replacement of tricationic zinc phosphatingsystems for the automotive industry. The basic chemistry and coating properties are presented.In the second part of the presentation, an outlook will be given on anti-corrosion packages for thecoming decade. An example of a very lean automotive paint shop will be discussed.
